I am Boleyn first came on our radar when she charted Number 12 in the UK club charts, with her track ‘Too Much’, the F9 Remix. Since then she’s been labelled V Magazine’s ‘new favourite artist’, and a ‘Synth Pop Sensation’ by the Daily Mail. And now, the London-based artist does it again with her new summer-synth banger ‘In Between’. It reminds us of a Kylie Minogue meets Tove Lo disco high, and we’re playing it on repeat here at Run That Again.

She grew up in St Petersburg, Russia, before performing all of the world from LA to Miami, and now is based in London after studying history at Oxford University. I Am Boleyn might seem an unusual name, but it’s meaning is all the more intriguing for it. She picked the name after being inspired by Henry VIII’s wife, stating “I chose the name I Am Boleyn because since I was a girl I was fascinated” by her. “History is dominated by the stories of men and she stands out as so determined, mysterious and ultimately tragic.” There’s a real gravity and emotional pull to I am Boleyn’s disco-infused dance tracks and perhaps that comes from the artist’s association to this deeply fascinating historical figure.

For fans of electro-pop, neon wonder and futuristic synth. I Am Boleyn is one to watch.
